Märzen Group LLC today announced the release of Tactical Data Analysis and Connectivity System (TDACS) version 4.0.  TDACS v4.0 is a major new release of the company’s software tools that support connectivity, interoperability, and real time analysis of the tactical data networks used by many US government and NATO agencies.

TDACS is designed to operate on the Microsoft® Windows XP and the .NET v3.5 framework and it extends the functionality and power of Märzen’s current tools to support tactical data networks.  TDACS takes full advantage of the .NET environment and will provide users with features such as one-click deployment, role-based security, and side-by-side execution.  Additionally the .NET framework provides a Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) thru which TDACS will provide tactical data network services that are compatible with the emerging DoD Net Centric Enterprise Services (NCES) standards.

The TDACS tool suite will continue to provide a robust and stable tactical message processing engine for routing, protocol conversion, data filtering and manipulation.

Operating on a Märzen certified hardware platform, TDACS will provide a significant upgrade in performance for message throughput and routing compared to the current Märzen eSIM product line that already leads the industry in this area.  In particular, message throughput and routing performance has been greatly enhanced in TDACS through the incorporation of the Microsoft® Message Queue Services (MSMQ) into the base TDACS engine design.   TDACS v4.0 also has significantly improved on recording and playback capabilities through the use of real time connections with Microsoft® SQL Server Express 2008 R2 that is provided with the system. TDACS can now record and analyze tactical communications at lowest (raw) physical level in addition to the application layer protocols and messages.

TDACS v4.0 will also provide a number of feature enhancements over the previous product versions and leverages on the TDACS capability to use software plug-ins to alter and extend capabilities to meet changing user requirements. The current software plug-in tools for TDACS are now expanded to provide JTIDS 2M and MIDS LVT2 terminal emulation along with expanded Ethernet, Multicast, and serial data protocol interfaces.  A software plug-in for TDACS v4.x will also provide interfaces with the PSC-5 and PSC-17 satellite radios using the SATJ protocols.

The TDACS v4.0 software plug-ins that provide for real-time display, bit level analysis, and forensics of tactical data streams also have been significantly enhanced.  The enhanced TDACS analysis capability is derived from Microsoft® SQL Server tactical data bases that are created and update by the TDACS message engine in real time.  This allows the TDACS analysis plug-in to provide detailed forensic analysis of data in real time and vastly improves and simplifies, automatic report generation, ad-hoc queries, and web enabled display capabilities. The database analysis tools are further enhanced by Märzen developed COM-based add-ins for Microsoft Excel - greatly simplifying the ad-hoc query generation and "what-if" analysis on multi-TADIL network performance.

The TDACS/ATD is another software plug-in that allows tactical network and platform status data to be reported and displayed on Microsoft® Visio diagrams created by the user and is driven by SQL tables updated in real-time.  This remarkably simple idea provides the tactical community with a highly flexible network status tool for both network trouble shooting and senior management status reporting.
